How Every Holiday is Part of the Past Ones.

Holidays like Thanksgiving, are not only about that day, but about all the Thanksgivings, Christmases, and Easters that you have celebrated previously.

I remember Thanksgiving when I was a kid. We celebrated it at my Grandparents and being typical Italian; there was more food than anyone could eat. We started with an antipasto, and then soup, followed by pasta in one way or another. Now it was time for the women and other females in the house to wash the plates before the next course. We then had our Turkey, roast or ham with vegetables, potatoes and salad. Now this is the part I laugh at. The men would hit the couches to watch t.v.    Most of them sleep or watch football while the women clean everything up. No dessert yet because that might be too heavy, so we have nuts and fruit instead. . Six o” clock hits, and it is time to eat again. This time, we have leftovers then dessert. By the time,  we got home we were so stuffed that all we wanted to do is sleep.

That memory and the Thanksgivings with my children are memories that come to mind during the holiday season.  I realize how each holiday is the accumulation of all the rest of memories and traditions.  I think that is a good thing.  It makes each holiday more full and more memorable.  Wishing all of you a perfect holiday season. May you and your family be blessed this coming year.
